Our mission: Building strong communities
Through the Ellipse Foundation, Ellipse Insurance continues its philanthropic mission by providing financial support to non-profit organizations that work to build our communities. In order to maximize the reach of its investments within these communities, the Ellipse Foundation has chosen to focus on youth, education, and health.
Contribute to the well-being of our communities
The Ellipse Foundation’s goal is to provide a set amount of donations each year from Ellipse Insurance itself. The company’s contribution is supplemented by the money raised at the Ellipse Foundation’s annual fundraising event.
Proud of our results
Each application is carefully reviewed by our committee. In 2024, over 60 organizations in Quebec received financial support, for a total amount of approximately $80,000.
To receive support from the Ellipse Foundation, a charity must be able to provide a tax receipt, including detailed information about the donation received. This is why only applications from charities registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) are considered. The requesting charity must operate in health or education or with young people and vulnerable populations.
Exclusions include:
- Applications made by or for an individual or family in need.
- Organizations that may pose an ethical, cultural, safety, or environmental risk, or the role or actions of which may conflict with Ellipse Insurance’s interests, reputation, or goals.
- Groups that discriminate on the basis of race, sex, disability, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation.
- Political or religious applications.
- Organizations perceived to be associated with promoting smoking, the manufacture and/or distribution of alcohol, gambling, or any other activity that may be harmful to the health and well-being of the population.
- Groups with administrative costs that are not reasonably justifiable, serve a small pool, or which provide extremely limited benefits to the communities in which they operate.
The Ellipse Foundation will not contribute more than once per twelve (12) month period to an activity or charity. It avoids contributing to multiple projects benefiting the same charity, unless they support different communities in different regions.
The Foundation reviews applications from registered charities in which Ellipse Insurance employees or their family members, are personally involved, but they receive no special treatment.
The Ellipse Foundation works with accredited not-for-profit organizations with proven fund management and reporting capabilities to measure benefits and/or achievements.
